"There is an intensity about Hisham Badran landscapes which is almost palpable- an intensity of colour and an intensity of feeling. This is an artist who lives in and through his paintings, transmitting his emotions on to the canvas by means of colour. Yet the touch remains distinctively his own, the layers of glazes which he builds up creating a dense tapestry of colours represent a new technique yet to be discovered. Light is the overriding factor in all of Badran's paintings, sometimes a distant glow which infuses the entire canvas."
One of UAE's most exciting and collectable painters, Hisham Badran is a self-taught artist - born in Cairo in 1960 and educated at Northeastern University, Boston. He took up serious photography and painting in 1990. Being self-taught, Hisham's talent has been allowed to develop naturally and boldly. This is immediately apparent to the eye, with Hisham's artistic gifts expressing themselves in an extraordinary sense of form, colour and individuality within a variety of styles.
